2 cups white sugar
1 c shortening
3 eggs
1/4 cup milk
3 tsp vanilla
1 tsp lemon extract
1 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
5 cups flour
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla, lemon extract. Add dry ingredients. Roll out softball-sized amounts of dough between sheets of wax paper to about ¼ inch thick and cut with cookie cutters. Transfer to baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. Chill remaining dough in fridge and take out more to roll out as you go.
Frosting:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1-2 tsp vanilla
8 oz cream cheese
1 lb powdered sugar (about 4 cups)
Can add 1/2 tsp. lemon or almond extract
